How do you communicate the message your client wants to get across through the power of image, text, and graphics? That's graphic design. Good graphic design fulfills the client's needs, communicates clearly the client's message, and reaches the client's target audience in a way that creates engagement.

The Union of Art and Utility

Illustration is not only about personal expression. It's also not merely a sterile and mechanical fulfillment of a client's visions. It is the artistic intersection of the client's needs with the illustrator's own vision and personality. It is truly a collaborative effort.

The Original American Visual
Art Form

If there was any piece of Americana that deserves to be added to the list of "baseball, hot dogs and apple pie," it should be "comics." From newspaper strips to superhero comics, they have solidified their rightful place in American culture.

Sending a big message

Outdoor signage adds another element into the mix. The environment is constantly changing, and a sign may have to vie for attention in the midst of other signs. Weather changes. The audience may be traveling at high speed. In addition to properly conveying a message within branding standards, these factors must be considered when designing an effective sign.

Video

Adding the element of time

Video introduces time and movement to visual communication. Additional considerations such as pacing, sound, music, and camera angles all help to tell the story. My experience with video production includes editing, art direction, and script-writing. I've also taught college courses on time-based arts.

About Me.
Cool Ray Symbol_WHT_edited_edited_edited

I've been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil. My interest in art and design has been part of who I am my entire life, and I never seriously considered any other line of work.

I have over 20 years of experience as a graphic designer and illustrator working in the corporate world, state government, and as a freelancer. My work has encompassed B2B marketing, product design, retail point-of-sale, signs and installations, storyboards, comic book illustration, cartooning, and more. I like to mix it up. I also have copywriting and art direction experience and have worked producing and directing video. I enjoy teaching and have taught drawing, illustration, and time-based arts at my alma mater as well as the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design. Variety keeps me engaged.
